About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced sales professional to join our team as a Field Sales and Customer Acquisition specialist. This role will be responsible for driving the growth of our solar product range by identifying, prospecting, and closing new customers, as well as developing and maintaining a network of sales agents and partners. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in field sales, preferably in the solar, tech, or rural distribution sectors.
Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and close new customers for our solar product range, conducting site visits, product demonstrations, and customer education sessions as needed.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract signing and system activation, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and support.
- Achieve and exceed monthly unit sales targets set by the Business Development Lead and Managing Director, consistently striving to improve sales performance and grow the customer base.
- Recruit, onboard, and train new sales agents and mini-distributors in assigned territories, providing ongoing support and performance management to ensure their success.
- Maintain regular engagement with active agents to support their performance, address any issues or concerns, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Support the Business Development Lead in preparing proposals for institutional, government, and corporate clients, identifying opportunities with NGOs, microfinance banks, cooperatives, and rural enterprises.
- Represent our company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and community events, promoting our products and services to a wide range of stakeholders and building relationships with potential customers and partners.
Requirements
- Proven track record in field sales, preferably in the solar, tech, or rural distribution sectors, with a strong understanding of the sales process and the ability to close deals.
- Familiarity with the ANGAZA platform or similar Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) software is a strong plus, as well as experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and sales analytics tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively for site visits, agent onboarding, and other sales-related activities, with a strong ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with customers, agents, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong focus on results and a commitment to achieving sales targets and growing the business.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with solar products or similar technologies, with a strong understanding of the benefits and features of our products and the ability to communicate these effectively to customers.
- Knowledge of the ANGAZA platform or similar PAYG software, with experience using these tools to manage sales, customer relationships, and product distribution.
- Familiarity with sales analytics and performance management tools, with the ability to use data and insights to inform sales strategies and improve performance.
